Description
Probably of prewar American manufacture, the yellow and black metal Mechanical Birdhouse Bank features handle-powered banking action, with a conspicuous key in the front of its faux birch bark exterior. Printed in Gothic lettering at the base, the poorly punctuated instructions read: “Put the money on the rod, turn the handle. The bird will come out takes the piece and disappears in his cage.” The rara avis inside appears to be a pressed metal red-beaked robin. Image is 1420px in height.
