Linemar Sleeping Baby Bear, Japan, battery-operated, 1950s.
Linemar, the import brand of Louis Marx & Co., was on the cutting edge of what we now call globalism: importing the products of small, unknown manufacturers into the US domestic market with the helping hand of the big parent company (in this case, Marx). Linemar products could be found everywhere, from Sears Christmas Wish Book catalogs to mom-and-pop hardware stores with seasonal toy sections.
This battery-operated toy features a fuzzy baby bear who wakes up in accordance with the alarm clock mounted on his or her headboard.
